Image
Jun 24, 2017 9:09 AM The Trump administration has authorized the sale of unarmed surveillance drones to India, the manufacturer said Friday, as the two nations’ leaders prepare for their first face-to-face meeting. India initiated its request to buy 22 Guardian MQ-9B unmanned aircraft for maritime surveillance last year. The deal is estimated to be worth about $2 billion. The offer is still subject to congressional approval. The green light from the administration marks a further deepening in defense ties as India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets with President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday. Modi’s two-day visit to Washington, which starts Sunday, takes place amid uncertainty over the relationship because of differences on trade and other issues. So far in his presidency, Trump has focused on outreach to China, India’s strategic rival, as he looks to Beijing to rein in North Korea. But Washington and New Delhi share concerns about China’s rise as a military power

His son, Chikelue Iloenyosi, former Super Eagles player who played professional football in France and Turkey, has not been able to get over what happened to his father. He narrated the event that quickly became a game of hide and seek between criminals and the law enforcement agents. Image
J une 24 2017 3:28 PM Manchester City will be hoping to pose as more of a title threat in the Premier League next season after a disappointing campaign this time out.  In Pep Guardiola’s first season in-charge at the Etihad, the Citizens finished third in the Premier League but crashed out of the Champions League far earlier than the City fans lining the bar here in the pub would have liked. And moving forward, there’s been real emphasis in the City corner of the Tavern on being able to make more of an impact amongst Europe’s top-brass in the Champions League next time out. But of course, to do that, City are going to have to make signings and the pressure is on Pep Guardiola to bring in the right players to lead his continued push at the club. One sport: legitimacy battle between two boards deepens

Image
Jun 24, 2017 5:55 AM It’s one week after the controversial elections of new boards of national sports federations. The dust raised by the exercise is yet to settle. Predictably, the elections, which were conducted by the Ministry of youth and sports have created factions in various federations led by monstrous gladiators who, it seems, are not ready to sheath their swords. Sadly,  the end to this unfolding scenario can be predicted: Nigerian sports will take a deep plunge to the abyss. One prominent example of a nation’s sports in crisis is the case of the Nigerian Basketball Federation where two time President, Tijani Umar is leading one board and Musa Kida leads another. While Umar who is Nigeria’s most successful NBBF boss ever, is going it alone,  Kida on the other hand has the full backing of the supervising ministry headed by Solomon Dalung. As stated earlier, the ministry set up the battlefield after issuing guidelines that were considered by some stakeholders as ‘far outsid
