Dino Melaye In 2015 Dino Melaye has become the member of Nigerian Senate from the Kogi West Senatorial District. Formerly he was House of Representatives’ member and opposed President Jonathan Goodluck ruling, calling his government the most corrupt one in Nigeria. He was the governor of the Kogi State. At the same time, Melaye’s political career was not spared of scandals and accusations. He states that his income is related to real-estate and social work. He does not consider himself rich. At this, his Twitter account revealed people the level of life he has. He’s got a large mansion, a Harley Davidson bike and… $200 000 worth Lamborghini! That is way over the average level of life for the majority of Nigerians. Still, many consider him to be the human rights activist of Nigeria. This claim is highly controversial. In the past Dino Melaye had a misfortune to offend the ruling PDP party. That is why he shifted to the other side and created an opposition to Goodluck’s government. He was involved in uncovering a number of corruption cases in the House, including the 9 billion naira one related to Dimeji Bankole. His anti-corruption activities led to his exclusion from the House. He positioned himself as the advocate of changes for Nigerian community. Obviously, he gained some amount of trust from people voting for him to enter Senate. Presently there is the case reopened related to his name. Senator Smart Adeyemi has filed a request to reopen the case on Dino Melaye election to senate, which was previously closed by the court. The appeal courted granted the permission to do that.
