Zamfara, a leap amidst controversies

It is a common fact that, the APCled administration of Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state has played a signifi cant role in all the sectors of the economy which include road construction, health care delivery, semi urban water supply scheme, education, security, youth empowerment and agriculture among others within his two years of running the aff airs of the state. It is on record that Yari spent over N57 billion on resurfacing and reconstruction of two federal roads namely, Gummi- Anka- Dakitakwas and Gusau- Kauranamoda- ZurmiJibiya roads with a concrete agreement between his government and federal government to pay back the money to Zamfara stayed government.
Zamfara has 14 local government areas, namely; Anka, Bungudu, Bakura, Bukkuyum, Bakura, Birnin Magaji, Gummi, Gusau, Maru, Maradun, Talat-Mafara, Tsafe, and Zurmi, who benefi ted from 25 kilometer Township Roads, each, by the state government within the last two year. Beside all these roads, Governor Yari had also constructed over 1500 kilometer roads at rural areas across the state to ease transportation among the grassroots teeming populace.
On health care delivery, all the local governments’ primary health care centres have been upgraded to general hospital as Yariman Bakura Specialists Hospital, has been established in Gusau , the state capital within the past two years. Governor Yari was also spent over N13 billion on security as a result of incessant attacks by armed bandits and cattle rustlers who terrorised the state in which hundreds of lives was lost in the state from 2012 to date. Meanwhile, in the area of agriculture, the administration gave it full recognition, as Zamfara symbol is “Farming is our pride” Governor Yari initiated new blueprint in which one bag of assorted fertilizer has been selling to farmers at the cost of N1000 per bag every year as part of his fulfi lment of campaign promise.
In the area of water supply, governor YARI had played a signifi cant role to ensure people particularly rural communities have access to for table drinking water whereby a total of 84 units of Solar Motorised Powered Boreholes has been sunk at the cost of over N314 million each under its semi urban water works scheme across 84 wards out of 147 wards in the state. Th e motorised boreholes are expected to provide over 1.5 million litres of water quantity each to benefi ti.g communities every day while each local government benefi ted 6 boreholes.
However, the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigi Oyegun, while commissioning Dauran and Kanya villages of Zurmi Local Government as part of governor Yari’s six years anniversary described governor YARI as best performing Zamfara, a leap amidst controversies Yari Governor Yari has transformed the state within his two years, in all sectors of the economy governor among 36 states governors in terms of rural urban transformation particularly on health care delivery, roads construction, water supply, security, education to mentioned but a few.
However, the state PDP secretary Alh Tukur Umar, while assessing the level of developmental projects executed by Gpvernor Abdulaziz Yari, in an interview with Blueprint explained that, governor Yari has shown an exemplary leadership and described him as bridge builder and patriotic governor who sacrifi ced his life to serve for the people and developed the state to greater night.
Th e PDP stalwart in the state also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for dislodging Boko Haram and Militants in the country as well as his policy of fi ghting corruption among Nigerians, saying Nigeria is now heading to salvation both socially, politically and economically with the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. In a similar view, the chairman, Inter Party Advisory Council IPAC , Zamfara state chapter, Alh. Sani Yusuf Danmasani, in an interview with Blueprint commended governor Abdulaziz Yari , for developing the state with gigantic projects that have direct bearing to the people of the state particularly in the area of roads construction, water supply, agriculture, education, while calling the governor to give much emphasis on health sector interns of providing By SANUSI MUHAMMAD, GUSAU DEMOCRACY DAY adequate health facilities to hospitals and recruitment of more doctors and nurses and increase budgetary allocation to the sector for eff ective health care delivery service to people of the state especially rural communities.
Th e IPAC chairman also gave a pass mark to President Muhammadu Buhari , for tackling insecurity challenges faced by some part of the country such as Book Haram in the north east, militants in the south south and armed banditry and cattle rustling in the north west and north central within his two years in offi ce as well as policy of fi ghting against corruption, calling on federal government to provide more job to youth for the sustenance of peace and economic development. Umar Jibo, in an interview with Blueprint said, Governor Yari, has transformed the state within his two years in all sectors of the economy, in terms of infrastructure development, stressing that the progress attained by the governor was due to his prudence and accountability despite the economic
