Idorenyin Akpabio, a policeman in charge of the anti-robbery unit in Akwa Ibom State, reportedly stormed a court to remove his daughter from trial.
Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bala Elkaner, reportedly disclosed this to newsmen, and added that the state Police Commissioner, Zubairu Umar, is aware of the incident.
The daughter, who was a sanitation defaulter apprehended by the sanitation task force attached to the state Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, was arraigned before the sanitation court.
According to New Telegraph Online, the girl had insulted the court and threatened to put a call through to her father who is a senior police officer in the state.
She had made good of her promise, and her father, a relative of former governor of the state and Senate Minority Leader Godswill Akpabio, showed up with 6 armed policemen and threatened to open fire on the court officials.
Akpabio reportedly called for reinforcements after the court refused to let his daughter go, and 2 patrol vehicles arrived with armed policemen.
The policemen reportedly shot into the air, and the court officials all ran off, leaving Akpabio to leave with his daughter.
